Oxbow Wins The 2013 Preakness Stakes

Oxbow won the 138th running of the Preakness Stakes this evening at the Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore. Oxbow led wire to wire, and the win was a feel-good story for the jockey, Gary Stevens. Stevens, 50, retired in 2005 and worked as an analyst. He returned this January. Because of Oxbow's victory, we won't have a Triple Crown winner this year. Orb won the Kentucky Derby two weeks ago, but got caught in the pack today and finished fourth. The last Triple Crown winner, Affirmed, won in 1978, 35 years ago. Oxbow's odds going into the race were 15/1 to win. The Triple Crown finishes with the Belmont Stakes on June 8. Scummy Fuck Joe Ricketts Shuts Down DNAinfo, Gothamist After Writers Unionize

Joe Ricketts, TD Ameritrade founder, billionaire, and father of Chicago Cubs chairman Tom Ricketts, shut down the local news network of DNAinfo and Gothamist sites today, a week after the writers voted to unionize. Anyone attempting to reach one of the sites was redirected to this letter: November 2, 2017 Dear DNAinfo and Gothamist Readers: Today, I’ve made the difficult decision to discontinue publishing DNAinfo and Gothamist. Reaching this decision wasn’t easy, and it wasn’t one I made lightly. I started DNAinfo in 2009 at a time when few people were investing in media companies. But I believed an opportunity existed to build a successful company that would report unbiased neighborhood news and information. These were stories that weren’t getting told, and because I believe…

Trae Young and Michael Porter Jr. Have Bright Futures and a Shared Past

data-mm-id=”_g7opxqo7p”>Michael Porter Jr. and Trae Young went to dinner at Chops steakhouse in Atlanta on Sunday night before the Nuggets and Hawks played on Monday. The two have been good friends for years and formed one of the most dynamic duos in all of the country when they played on the same AAU team in high school. This time they squared off for the second time at the NBA level as competitors, not teammates. "It's something we always dreamed about," Porter Jr. said. "To be on the floor at the same time is special."Young came into the NBA last season as the fifth overall pick and finished second overall in Rookie of The Year voting. On the other side, Porter Jr. went into the NBA as a prospect seen as having superstar potential, but dealt with injuries an…

Lamar Jackson is Wrong About Michael Vick Being a Hall of Famer

data-mm-id=”_he225t4zn”>Lamar Jackson tweeted about Michael Vick over the weekend, seemingly flabbergasted that someone might think Vick wasn't a first-ballot Hall of Famer. This is absurd because there is no way that Vick will make the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Thiz can’t be a real question https://t.co/h6JqsuyUgx— Lamar Jackson (@Lj_era8) April 5, 2020This is not to say that Vick wasn't an incredible player. He was undeniably talented and breathtaking to watch. He was like a video game character and as an actual video game character he was unstoppable. He inspired a generation of football fans and will be remembered for a number of reasons. Getting a bust in Canton will not be one of those reasons. To start with the obvious, Vick missed three years in his prime as he sp…

Scream 5 Will Be Called 'Scream' and That is Ridiculous

data-mm-id=”_wh33jyuj8″>Scream 5, the fifth movie in the Scream franchise, is called Scream. You have to hand it to the Scream team for making such a brave and confusing decision. After the previous three sequels were simply sequentially labeled, it seemed like the obvious choice for Scream 5 would have been Scream 5, but they went with Scream as a nod to the classic original film that started it all, Scream. That’s a wrap on Scream, which I’m excited to announce is the official title of the next film! Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans.
