Thauvin set to miss rest of 2019 as Marseille star prepares for surgery

Marseille winger Florian Thauvin is expected to miss the rest of the first half of the season as he prepares to undergo keyhole surgery to correct an ankle problem he sustained in April.

Thauvin was injured during Marseille s 3-1 victory at Guingamp on April 20 and exacerbated the problem in training, although he recovered in time to help his side finish the 2018-19 season with back-to-back victories as they claimed fifth place in Ligue 1.

However, the issue continued to hamper the France international, who has played just 10 minutes as a substitute in the top flight this term, and he has made the decision to go under the knife in order to return to full fitness.

A statement on the club s official website said: Florian Thauvin suffered an accidental ankle injury …

Shearer surpassed, Messi eclipsed – Kane´s record-breaking 2017

Tottenham s 5-2 win over Southampton saw Harry Kane surpass Alan Shearer and Lionel Messi as well as setting two Premier League hat-trick records.

Kane s second treble in four days inspired Spurs to a resounding success at Wembley, securing the 24-year-old a place in the history books.

The England international overtook Shearer s 22-year record for Premier League goals in a calendar year, while also usurping Messi as Europe s top scorer for club and country in 2017.

With Spurs not in action again until January 2, we take a look at Kane s sensational year in front of goal, with the help of Opta data.

German football captain expected to miss rest of 2010

Germany captain Michael Ballack is not expected to play football again in 2010 after it was revealed on Wednesday his knee injury is worse than first thought.

The 34-year-old fractured the tibia just below his left knee in a Bundesliga match against Hanover last month, but a further examination has revealed more bad news.

The defensive midfielder now needs to wear a protective cast for the next four to six weeks to allow the injury to heal.

The injury is more serious than thought and as a result Michael will be unavailable until the end of the year, said his club Bayer Leverkusen in a statement.

Ballack picked up the injury on only his third game back after damaging ligaments in his right ankle last May which kept him out of the World Cup finals.

On this day in 2020: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads Arsenal to FA Cup glory

Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang once again lit up an empty Wembley Stadium as his brace ensured FA Cup final victory over 10-man Chelsea on this day three years ago.

The striker, who downed Manchester City with two goals in the semi-final, equalised with a penalty he had won himself to cancel out Christian Pulisic’s early opener.

Chelsea then lost Cesar Azpilicueta and Pulisic to injury before Aubameyang brilliantly added his second to secure a 2-1 victory and then lifted a record 14th FA Cup for the Gunners.

His only false move of the day was dropping the trophy in front of his team-mates before eventually raising it above his head.

For head coach Mikel Arteta, this was a first piece of silverware just eight months after taking charge of the …

Packers vs 49ers Sunday Night Football Picks and Predictions: Back the Pack in Week 3 NFC Showdown

The Green Bay Packers come to the Golden State to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football in Week 3, playing on a short turnaround after a win over Detroit on Monday.

San Francisco is home after opening the schedule with two straight away games, winning at Detroit and Philadelphia. The NFL betting odds are giving the visiting Packers 3.5 points in the Bay Area, with books still not certain of the validity of the Cheeseheads, who were rolled by New Orleans in Week 1.

Here are our free NFL picks and predictions for Packers at 49ers on September 26.

Five Things You Didn't Know About Super Bowl Betting

Super Bowl is one of the rare times on the sports calendar that everyone – gambler or not – knows the point spread.

Big Game betting has massive mainstream appeal, as stories flood the news wires about the Super Bowl odds and who bookies think will win it all—or at least cover the spread. But in that fleeting moment of understanding also comes plenty of misunderstanding.

Even seasoned Vegas veterans may not know these five facts about Super Bowl betting:

Saquon Barkley Divisional Round Spotlight: Player Props for the Divisional Round

The G-Men upset Minnesota last week on the back (and arm, and legs) of Daniel Jones, but Philly presents a big challenge to New York’s QB… and those wanting to bet on him.

Ever the optimist, I’m going to instead focus on someone that should find success on Saturday and take a more positive approach with Saquon Barkley props.

The Giants’ star RB hasn’t had a massive workload down the stretch of the season, but going against a vaunted Eagles offense — which both the writers for our Giants-Eagles betting preview and Giants/Eagles prop picks think will shine — Barkley is going to need to be as involved as possible.

Here is my best free NFL pick for Saquon on Saturday… along with a Barkley-based same-game parlay.

Colts vs Jaguars Odds, Picks, and Predictions Week 6: Lawrence Dazzles Against Indy's Vulnerable Secondary

The Indianapolis Colts are to face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in the latest Week 6 odds. The Jaguars are returning home after a two-week stint in London and now square up against a Colts side that will be missing starting quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Despite backup Gardner Minshew taking over under center, money has come in on the visitors and NFL odds for this contest have slimmed from Jaguars -5 to -4.

Should you go against or follow the line movement? I let you know with my best free NFL picks for Colts vs. Jaguars on October 15.

Steelers vs Ravens Prop Bets: Steelers Pick'em Apart

If the football gods do indeed wish for the Pittsburgh Steelers to get into the playoffs, you can’t say they haven’t given them a notable gift.

That’s because Saturday’s opponent, the Baltimore Ravens, have the top seed in the AFC locked up, meaning a bevy of regulars – including likely MVP odds candidate Lamar Jackson – will sit out.

It’s a big reason why the Ravens are 3.5-point home underdogs in the NFL odds.

Pittsburgh doesn’t need to win to get in, but gaining that W is the first step in positive chain reactions that could have them postseason-bound.

Join me as I break down the Steelers vs Ravens Week 18 odds with our main focus being three great player props picks you should be targeting.
