Slaven Bilic wants Premier League move

Croatia boss Slaven Bilic has revealed his dream to coach a Premier League club in the future.

The former Everton and West Ham defender has enjoyed a lot of success with Vatreni since taking over the reigns in 2006, but it looks that he is ready for a change of scenery.

The 43-year-old admits that he is interested in a club job, preferably in English Premier League.

“One day I would love – love, not like – to manage a club,” Bilic said in an for Daily Telegraph.

“And the Premier League is the league in the world that any manager would jump at the opportunity to work in.”

The Croatian explains that he could leave the national team after the European Championship in Poland and Ukraine.

“It’s my dream to have a successful Eu…

Buffon: It would be offensive to compare myself to Neuer

Italy captain Gianluigi Buffon insists there will be no inferiority complex when he comes up against Germany s Manuel Neuer, a goalkeeper he once described as better than him , on Saturday.

Buffon and Neuer will be at opposite ends of the pitch when Italy take on the world champions in the Euro 2016 quarter-finals and the Juventus veteran is relishing the prospect.

I said Neuer is better than me, because in the end it may be true, he said. It s not something that bothers me or demeans me or what I am. I am well aware of what I have been, what I am now, and where I will be in two years. It makes me feel very calm.

It would be offensive to compare him to a 38-year-old goalkeeper. It seems normal to give this kind of answer as, over the last four or five years, he…

Turkey v Brazil: Dunga´s men out to extend run

Brazil will be hoping to continue their strong run of form under head coach Dunga when they take on Turkey in a friendly on Wednesday.

After the dismal end to their World Cup campaign on home soil, Brazil replaced Luiz Felipe Scolari with Dunga, who has made a positive start to his second stint in charge.

Friendlies against Colombia, Ecuador, Argentina and Japan have all resulted in victory for the five-time world champions, who have also recorded four consecutive clean sheets in that sequence.

Wednesday s clash in Istanbul represents a further stiff test of their credentials and, with the Brazilian domestic league heading towards its conclusion, Dunga has opted to select a squad consisting wholly of European-based players.

That number, naturally, include…

Rumour Has It: Manchester United set Pogba price

Manchester United know what they want for star midfielder Paul Pogba, according to reports.

Pogba, 26, has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with Real Madrid reported to be his most likely destination.

With Zinedine Zidane starting a rebuild at the Santiago Bernabeu – Eden Hazard, Luka Jovic and Ferland Mendy have all just been signed – perhaps Pogba could be next.

But, unsurprisingly, there will be work to do between United and Madrid to make the move happen.

Sarri: Chelsea had to accommodate Hazard

Maurizio Sarri has claimed he could not play his preferred system at Chelsea as he had to accommodate Eden Hazard.

Belgium international Hazard starred for Chelsea last season, scoring 21 goals and providing 17 assists across all competitions.

His form earned him a move to Real Madrid, while Sarri who won the Europa League and led Chelsea to a third-place finish in the Premier League left for Juventus.

Sarri s first and only season at Stamford Bridge looked to have been a success, but issues over his playing style proved a sticking point throughout his tenure.

And Sarri believes that having to find a way to play Hazard in his preferred role meant he could not deploy the free-flowing, 4-3-3 system that had drawn plaudits during his time at Napoli, and als…

Man Utd no lost cause but Rangnick has work cut out as he inherits mishmash of philosophies

When Manchester United sacked Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and announced a caretaker manager would then be followed by an interim manager to be replaced by a third coach at the end of the season, confusion would have been written over the faces of many supporters.

It seemed an unnecessarily convoluted process to just appointing someone better than Solskjaer, but perceptions are already starting to change.

Michael Carrick had a pretty daunting introduction to life at the helm, with a crucial Champions League match followed by a trip to imperious Premier League leaders Chelsea.

Yet, after what was presumably his second and final game in charge, he s seen United take an entirely respectable four points – Ralf Rangnick waits in the wings, and there were even hallmarks of t…

A statement on Sevilla s website on Monday confirmed that the 29-year-old had come through a medical and will sign a three-year contract before being officially presented on Tuesday.

Burnley close to Lennon deal

Burnley are closing in on the signing of Aaron Lennon from Everton, according to the Mail Online.

The England international has moved down the pecking order at Goodison Park following the return to fitness of Yannick Bolasie and the signing of Theo Walcott from Arsenal and is ready for a new challenge, with the Clarets beating Newcastle United in the race to secure his services.

Lennon moved to Everton initially on loan from Tottenham Hotspur in February 2015 before signing for them permanently the following summer.

In total he racked up seventy-seven appearances in all competitions, scoring nine goals having spent almost a decade with Spurs, for whom he played three hundred and sixty-four times.

Banned Asian champions Jeonbuk ask CAS for stay of execution

AFC Champions League holders Jeonbuk Motors have filed a request with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for a stay of execution on their ban from continental competition in 2017.

The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) last week suspended Jeonbuk as a result of a 2013 match-fixing scandal in which one of their scouts was found to have made payments to referees.

Jeonbuk were docked nine points and fined 100 million South Korean won (approximately US$85,000) by the Korean Football Association last September, ultimately handing the K-League title to FC Seoul.

The club have requested measures to allow them to compete in the 2017 Champions League while their appeal to CAS is ongoing.

CAS intends to announce its decision on February 3.

Abelardo opts to leave post as Alaves coach

Highly rated coach Abelardo has decided to leave Deportivo Alaves.

Abelardo replaced Gianni De Biasi in December 2017 and comfortably steered the club to safety, winning three of their final five matches of the season.

Alaves built on that with a remarkable start to 2018-19 and spent most of the campaign in the running for a top-four finish.

As recently as April 4 they were fifth in the table, but a run of just one win in their last 10 LaLiga matches ultimately saw them slide.
