Uruguay great Suarez retires from international football

Luis Suarez has announced he will retire from international football after Uruguay s World Cup qualifier versus Paraguay on Friday.

Suarez is Uruguay s all-time leading goalscorer, having netted 69 times in 142 appearances, with only Diego Godin (161) winning more caps for La Celeste.

The striker helped Uruguay reach the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup and win their 15th Copa America title in 2011, being named Player of the Tournament as he scored four goals including the opener in the final – a 3-0 victory over Paraguay.

Suarez will face the same opponents in his final international match on Saturday as Marcelo Bielsa s team look to build on a return of 13 points from their first six games in the CONMEBOL World Cup qualification process.

Juventus eager to get going again in 2021 after Fiorentina fiasco

Andrea Pirlo has been encouraged by the attitude of his Juventus players since their return to training after a home humbling at the hands of Fiorentina brought an awful end to 2020.

Rookie coach Pirlo had been unbeaten in Serie A heading into the final match of last year, with only Juve and leaders Milan yet to taste defeat across Europe s top five leagues at that point.

But the Bianconeri lost that record after they went down 3-0 in Turin following Juan Cuadrado s early red card, just their second home league loss to Fiorentina in 30 years.

A short mid-season break gave the sixth-placed defending champions time to stew on that painful result, which followed a 1-1 draw with Atalanta in their previous home match.

Not since early in the 2015-16 season hav…

Manchester City reach 100 goals in 2018-19

Manchester City are the first team in Europe s top five leagues to score 100 goals in all competitions this season.

Pep Guardiola s men reached the landmark after 18 minutes of Sunday s Premier League match at Huddersfield Town, when Danilo s speculative strike took a decisive deflection off Christopher Schindler.

Paris Saint-Germain, who walloped Guingamp 9-0 in Ligue 1 on Saturday, are the next closest to three figures, but still 10 shy on 90.

Barcelona have scored 78 times this term, seven more than LaLiga counterparts Sevilla.

Tottenham (70) and Arsenal (68) both have more overall goals than Premier League leaders Liverpool (65).

Premier League review: November 24th 2012

Shane Long was again on-target as West Brom moved up to third in the Premier League table with a 4-2 victory at Sunderland

This weekend’s Premier League programme kicked off at the Stadium of Light, where West Brom defeated Sunderland 4-2.

The Baggies took the lead with a superb curling effort from Zoltan Gera.

Just before the interval Shane Long capitalised on an awful error from Sunderland keeper Simon Mignolet to score a tap-in.

Sunderland got a goal back in the 73rd minute through a deflected free-kick from Craig Gardner. West Brom restored their two goal lead in the 81st minute.

Liam Ridgewell was fouled in the penalty area and substitute Romelu Lukaku scored from the resulting spot kick.

Stephane Sessegnon got a goal back for the …

AFCON 2021: Kamaldeen, Hannibal and the young talents looking to impress

We may only be a week into 2022, but the first major international football tournament of the year is on the horizon, with the Africa Cup of Nations kicking off on Sunday.

It s been a long time coming as well – it was initially due to take place in June and July 2021 but was brought forward to January 2021 due to concerns about the weather. It then had to be pushed back a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Of course, fans and teams have had to put up with the usual posturing from those at certain clubs regarding the inconvenience of relinquishing players in the middle of the season, but despite that there remains a healthy selection of big names.

In fact, given the standard the likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane, Riyad Mahrez and Achraf Hakimi usually play a…

The Cleveland Browns let a road victory slip through their fingers in Week 1, while the Houston Texans easily won at home in their season opener.

Chargers vs Raiders Sunday Night Football Picks and Predictions: For All The Playoff Marbles

The stakes couldn’t be higher as the Los Angeles Chargers travel to Las Vegas to face the Raiders with an AFC playoff spot on the line.

The Chargers are field-goal favorites for this “win-and-in” primetime showdown despite the Raiders’ three-game winning streak. Los Angeles knocked off Vegas 28-14 at home back in Week 4 – the first time in the past five meetings these AFC rivals haven’t had a game decided by a single score.

Buckle up for a wild night in Vegas, as we give our free NFL betting picks and predictions for Chargers at Raiders on January 9.

Bills vs Bengals MNF Prop Bets: Cincy D Turns Allen Over in Pivotal Clash

It’s a massive AFC showdown at Paycor Stadium Monday night as the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals both put their lengthy winning streaks on the line in Week 17’s marquee game.

Joe Burrow will get a full stable of pass-catchers, which is something he hasn’t been able to say in while despite his team stacking wins. We could see some rain, but the wind (the more important factor) won’t be an issue.

Here is my NFL prop picks for Monday Night Football’s battle between the Bills and Bengals. Also, be sure to check out Jason Logan’s full MNF betting preview.

Best NFL Milestone Bets for Week 6: Kenneth Walker Cruises Past His Prop Overs

Not every player can get well and beyond their NFL player props total. But for those who might be mispriced, have a better matchup than expected, or can just pile up stats in garbage time, betting milestones and Alt Overs can be profitable even with a low win percentage.

I’ll be using bet365 for most NFL odds as they have become the best book for offering Alt Overs as they have Milestone markets for seemingly every prop. They also give you the green checkmark as soon as the number is hit and bettors are able to cash out immediately, which also helps.

In Week 6, I’m double-dipping on a runner coming off the bye, hitting a couple of marks with the best possession receiver in football, and for the last of my free NFL picks, I’m buying low on a running…
