Chelsea, Galatasaray vie for Turan

Chelsea are reportedly interested in signing Atletico Madrid playmaker Arda Turan, according to Galatasaray president Unal Aysal.

The Turkey international has enjoyed a successful season with Atletico, having won the Copa del Rey and secured a third-place finish in La Liga.

Turan began his career at Galatasaray before joining Atletico in 2011.

His former club are hopeful of luring the 26-year-old back to the Super Lig, but their president believes they will be unable to compete with Chelsea s bid.

Chelsea are involved with Arda and we won t be able to match what they are offering, Aysal told Turkish newspaper Milliyet.

The west London club are looking to add depth to their squad for next season, having struggled to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City in the English Premier League, as well as bowing out of the UEFA Champions League in the group stage.

Arda would offer competition to the likes of Eden Hazard and Oscar, with Bayern Leverkusen s Andre Schurrle another potential option out wide if he arrives at Stamford Bridge.

Arda, who has a contract until the end of the 2014/15 season, has scored four goals and provided six assists in the league this season season for Atletico.
