AC Milan confirm interest in Marouane Fellaini

Serie A heavyweights AC Milan have all but confirmed interest in Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini.

Rossoneri sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli opened up on the Belgian following AC Milan’s win over Fiorentina, claiming that ‘Fellaini could become an important player for us’.

“We know he is not going to renew with United, but it’s difficult to say that we have closed the deal. He has important attributes. We will do something in that role but we are keeping everything in reserve. First we have to secure our signings, then announce them.”, he said.

AC Milan finished the 2017/18 season in sixth place in the standings and will compete in the Europa League next season.

James set for Atletico? That´s a stretch – Cerezo

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo denied James Rodriguez is poised to join the LaLiga side, adding there have not been negotiations for the Real Madrid midfielder.

Tipped to move to Napoli throughout the off-season, Atletico have reportedly emerged as the favourites to sign James as the Italian outfit and Madrid struggle to reach an agreement.

James is set to leave Madrid following a two-year loan spell at Bayern Munich, who opted not to make the deal permanent at the end of 2018-19.

Asked about Colombia star James, Cerezo told reporters: Atletico are interested in great players and James is a great player, but from that to he s going to come, there s some distance.

Negotiations? Not that I know of, no.

Newcastle no longer for sale, says owner Ashley

English Premiership club Newcastle United is no longer for sale, owner Mike Ashley said Sunday after failing to find a buyer.

The billionaire sportswear magnate has decided to push ahead with his own plans for the club following a fruitless three-month campaign to find an interested party.

Ashley engaged the services of investment bank Seymour Pierce after deciding to call it a day at St James Park in September following mass protests against his regime in the wake of Kevin Keegan s departure as manager.

Ashley said in a statement on the club s official website: I am happy to end the uncertainty the fans may have had about the future direction of Newcastle United.

I know just how important that is to you.

I have withdrawn Newcastle United fr…

QPR v West Brom: Irvine enjoying fruits of his labour

Alan Irvine feels the hard work is starting to pay off ahead of West Brom s trip to QPR in the Premier League on Saturday.

Back-to-back clean sheets and a return of four points from the last two games have seen West Brom climb to 14th in the top flight.

But QPR, who occupy the final relegation spot, are just three points behind and are on an impressive run of form at home, having claimed 10 points from the last 12 available at Loftus Road.

Irvine recognises the significance of the clash against another team looking to pull away from the bottom three, but is confident that his side s efforts on the training ground will prove valuable.

It s a big game  big game for them, big game for us, he told the club s official website. It would be great for us to f…

Juventus expect Buffon to stay

Juventus director Giuseppe Marotta is confident that Gianluigi Buffon will see out his career with the Serie A side.

The 35-year-old who drew level with Fabio Cannavaro s record 136 Italy caps on Tuesday has been with the Turin club since 2001, winning four Serie A titles in that time.

Despite Buffon recently revealing that he considered leaving the Italian club in 2011, as well as rumours circulating of possible retirement, Marotta is confident that the former Parma man will be a Juventus player for years to come.

Buffon is a true champion, he told Gazzetta dello Sport.

He is a superlative professional.

My hope and wish is that he can defend Italy and Juve s goal for many years to come.

I believe and I hope that he will finish his career with Juve an…

Jorginho has ´five-year Man City deal waiting´

Jorginho has a five-year contract waiting for him at Manchester City if he completes a move from Napoli to join the Premier League champions, his agent has claimed.

The Italy international is widely reported to have been identified by Pep Guardiola as the ideal midfield addition for the Citizens, but a transfer has yet to be agreed with the Serie A club.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has already said that the club have rejected a €50million offer from City for the midfielder, who has been capped eight times by Italy.

But it appears as though Jorginho is keen on making the move.

2860 completed the most passes (2860) in the top-5 European Leagues in 2017-18. Crucial.

AC Milan 8/11 to beat Brescia in Friday’s Serie A showdown

Market: AC Milan win

Odds:

Hoping to briefly reclaim their spot in the top-six, a resurging AC Milan will make the trip to the Stadio Mario Rigamonti on Friday night.

Starting with the hosts, while Brescia may have managed to scrap a 2-2 draw off of fellow strugglers Cagliari last weekend, it does no cover what has been a growing rut for Eugenio Corini s men. Still sat in the drop zone and without a win to their name over the past five weeks, the Serie A returners also have a reputation for their recent struggles on home soil. Including being hit with a 2-0 defeat against Sassuolo at the Stadio Mario Rigamonti last month, Friday s hosts have managed to record just a single Serie A victory in front of their own supporters and it should also be noted that when Br…

Bari claim Donati deal

Serie A outfit Bari claim they have reached an agreement with Scottish giants Celtic regarding Italian midfielder Massimo Donati.

The Italian midfielder has spent the last two years at Parkhead, but now looks set to head back to his homeland.

Donati began his career at Atalanta, before moving on to AC Milan in 2001, and struggled to make an impact at the Giuseppe Meazza, though, and was often sent out on loan, taking in spells at Parma, Torino, Sampdoria, Messina and back at Atalanta.

The 28-year-old then moved to Scotland in 2007 and helped Celtic to the SPL title in his first season at Parkhead.

Donati soon fell out of favour under Gordon Strachan, though, and was tipped to be on the move during the 2009 January transfer window.

He ultimately r…
